Sterling College sends students on summer mission trips

Beginning their summer with two weeks of service, students and staff from Sterling College are currently serving in Ghana, Guatemala, and Peru through June 2. The groups left May 18 and 19 for their two weeks of service through teaching English, outreach and evangelism.

Team Ghana is led by Nicole Glasgow, athletic trainer. Students on the trip include Jennifer Calderwood of Ulysses, Kansas; Nicole Ellerman of Topeka, Kansas; Marti Hatfield of Tatum, Texas; Tad Lafferty of El Dorado, Kansas; Nicki Lucas of Fort Collins, Colorado; Xavier Madrigal of Newton, Kansas; Morgan Nortness of Morrill, Nebraska; and Mikayla Pardinas of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Team Ghana is serving through street evangelism and teaching various subjects and grade levels at a local school.

Team Guatemala is led by Renard Ballard, resident director of Kilbourn Hall. He is serving with Emily Bebermeyer of Sedgwick, Kansas; Aren Coppoc of Concordia, Kansas; Elizabeth Herrington of Wichita, Kansas; and Shelby Stowe of Bentonville, Arkansas. Team Guatemala is teaching English at a school, delivering hygiene supplies, serving in church services and sharing their testimonies.

Team Peru is led by Patrick Williams of Sterling, Kansas. The team includes Kristen Calderwood of Ulysses, Kansas; Christopher Gulick of Russell, Kansas; Anna Kuns of Wichita, Kansas; and Kaitlynn Little of Holton, Kansas. The team is working with local pastor Chris Penner ’13 on church planting and discipleship in current churches.
