The Sterling College Criminal Justice program will host Kansas Supreme Court Justice Larkin Walsh for its fall keynote lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The event will take place at 6 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall.

“A number of our students had the privilege to meet Justice Walsh when we attended a special evening session of the Kansas Supreme Court last spring. The conversation was vibrant and engaging. I’m thrilled that our students will have another opportunity to engage with Justice Walsh,” said Dr. Mark Tremaine, professor of criminal justice.

Walsh earned her law degree from the University of Kansas and began her legal career more than 20 years ago as a law clerk at the Kansas Supreme Court. After four years with the court, she spent four years as a research attorney for the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas in Kansas City.

Walsh later entered private practice, where she spent approximately 12 years working in civil litigation. Her work focused primarily on workers’ rights, consumer rights, civil rights, complex class-action litigation and advocacy on behalf of survivors of forced labor and human trafficking.

With a focus on appellate advocacy, Walsh practiced before the Kansas appellate courts, several federal circuit courts of appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
