Sterling College will host its annual Spiritual Emphasis Week September 8-12, with a focus on “The Power of Your Story.” Throughout the week, students, faculty, and staff will participate in a series of gatherings designed to encourage spiritual reflection, community connection, and testimony sharing.

Sterling College will once again bring the art of competitive speech and debate to the Kansas State Fair through two annual Kansas State Fair Showcases: Debate on Tuesday, September 9 and the Forensics Showcase, scheduled for Thursday, September 11. Both events will be in the Encampment Building on the fairgrounds in Hutchinson. 

Sterling College successfully hosted its annual Warrior Welcome orientation for the incoming class of 2025, which took place across various campus locations from August 8 to August 23. The welcome event integrated new students into college life with a mix of academic and social activities.

Sterling College has named Dr. John Walker as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. In this role, Walker will serve as the senior academic officer of the College and a member of the President’s Cabinet. He will begin his service in Summer 2026, following the completion of the academic year at Central Christian School in Hutchinson, where he currently serves as superintendent of schools. 

Sterling College welcomed eight new faculty members to campus for the 2025-26 academic year. Classes begin on Wednesday, August 20.

“We are excited to welcome this energetic and passionate group of educators to our faculty. We are confident they will have great positive impact on campus and in the community and will share their hearts of service for the Lord,” said Dr. Erin Laudermilk, associate vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer. 

Sterling College is pleased to announce the grand dedication and official launch of the C.S. Lewis Center on Monday, September 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mabee Library. The evening will feature a special Service of Dedication and keynote lecture from renowned Lewis scholar Dr. Charlie W. Starr. After the keynote will be a discussion in response between our guest Lewis scholars led by respondent Dr. Joe Ricke, and a time of questions and answers with the guest Lewis scholars.
