The Sterling College Debate/Forensics team celebrated Valentine’s Day bringing home several awards and honors in the annual “Sweetheart Swing” double forensics tournaments at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla. 

The two back-to-back tournaments were held February 6-9. The Sterling team returned triumphant by placing second in both tournaments and second overall. Six students represented Sterling including three freshmen, two sophomores, and one senior. 

Sterling College will host a Transfer Information Event at Hutchinson Community College on Wednesday, February 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Blue Dragon Room in HCC’s Student Union. This event is open to all HCC students who are exploring the possibility of transferring to Sterling College’s campus or online programs.

Sterling College invites students, faculty, and the community to its Faith and Learning Conference on Friday, March 28. This event will feature thought-provoking discussions and presentations exploring the intersection of faith and intellectual inquiry. This event is free and open to the public. 

Sterling College invites students and professionals to participate in Networking Day, a casual, come-and-go event designed to foster connections and provide valuable opportunities for students to meet professionals in their fields of interest. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Gleason Physical Education Center on the Sterling College campus.

Sterling College will participate in the Hutchinson Community College Transfer Fair on Wednesday, February 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hutchinson Community College. This event provides HCC students with the opportunity to explore transfer options and learn more about continuing their education at Sterling College.

Sterling College Theatre invites you to step into a world of poignant humor and stirring debate with its production of Lucas Hnath’s acclaimed play, A Doll’s House, Part Two on Friday and Saturday, January 31 and February 1 at 7:30 p.m. and once again on Sunday, February 2 at 2 p.m. on the stage of Culbertson Auditorium, Sterling College. 

A fresh, modern take on Henrik Ibsen’s classic, this play revisits Nora Helmer, the bold heroine whose choice to leave her family in 1879 sparked shockwaves—and continues to ignite passionate discussions today.

Sterling College welcomed 60 band students from 11 Kansas high schools on Thursday, January 9, for its inaugural Honor Band Day. The event, organized by Band Director Larry Brownlee, provided a day of intensive rehearsals and culminated in a 30-minute concert open to the public.

Students from Ellinwood, Ellsworth, Hillsboro, Hugoton, La Crosse, Lyons, Otis-Bison, Pretty Prairie, Sacred Heart, Central Christian, and Sterling High Schools participated in the event. Despite weather challenges that prevented some students from attending, the day was a success.

Sterling College is honored to announce Dr. Don Davis as the featured speaker for its Peacemakers Convocation on Monday, January 20. The convocation will take place at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall. The event is open to the public.

“We're excited to welcome Dr. Davis, who has dedicated decades to ministry, serving people from all walks of life. In a world so deeply divided today, he will share a Biblical framework on how Christians are called to be peacemakers,” said Jose Carrillo, campus pastor.
