Sterling College is excited to announce a $1 million pledge from a generous, anonymous donor family who shares the college’s commitment to missional purity and biblical fidelity. This pledge represents a transformational investment in the college’s mission to develop servant leaders through Christ-centered education.

Sterling College welcomes the community to kick off the Christmas Advent season at its Share the Light Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 8. The event will begin at 6 p.m. on the east side of Cooper Hall. Sterling College students, faculty and staff, as well as the public are invited to this free event on East Cooper Lawn. 

The Sterling College Criminal Justice program will host Nick Sowers, Rice County Sheriff-Elect, for its keynote lecture on Tuesday, November 19. The College will host Sowers at 7 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall. The public is invited to attend this free event.

“We are thrilled to hear Nick share his vision for the Sheriff's Department. He has such a heart for Rice County. Nick truly is an exceptional role model for our criminal justice students,” said Dr. Mark Tremaine, associate professor of criminal justice. 

Between regular competition tournaments, hosting an out-of-state tournament, hosting a Kansas State Fair event and publishing a speech, the Sterling College Debate and Forensics team under coach Ken Troyer has posted a busy fall season. 

The fall started in early September with the team hosting the annual Kansas State Fair Debate Exhibition. About 200 high school students attended the event which included an exhibition of this year’s high school debate topic demonstrated by four area high school teams. 

Art can be more than just nice to look at it. Art can carry a message as well.

The current exhibit at the Sterling College Art/Media Center Gallery does both. Guest artist Joshua Cross's art series entitled “Doomscroll Snack” brings a message of overindulgence, mindless scrolling, and the reminder to put the devices down occasionally. The exhibit will run from November 8 through the end of the semester, December 13.  

Sterling College Theatre Director Greg McGlynn and Ken Ludwig’s comedy Moon Over Buffalo are a perfect match. The play bursting with fast-paced humor and farce will be staged in Culbertson Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. 

Sterling College is proud to announce that it has met its ambitious 2024 Founders Day: Day of Giving matching challenge, raising $142,007 in contributions from alumni, friends, and supporters. This achievement has unlocked an additional $100,000 matching gift, thanks to the generosity of two lead donors, making the total impact of the day an impressive $242,007 for student scholarships.

Sterling College will honor its legacy and rich history with a Founders Day celebration on Friday, November 1, 2024, the same day the College was founded in 1887. The highlight of the day will be a Heritage Convocation service, which will take place at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium and is open to students, faculty, alumni, and the public.
