Scott Downing ’79 is Sterling’s vice president for athletics. In his role at Sterling, Downing’s responsibilities include providing the strategic vision for Warrior Athletics and fundraising support to allow Sterling to consistently compete for championships. He provides long-range planning for Warrior Athletics and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations governing the operation of the athletic programs. Downing oversees an athletic department that features 18 teams and over 300 student-athletes.
Eliserio began his coaching career at Dordt College in Sioux City, Iowa. In 2015, Eliserio was named the associate head coach and coached a number of All-Conference players for Dordt. Prior to that season, he was the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Defenders.
Nic Martinez is in his seventh year here at Sterling College, and is now set to begin his first official year as Head Men's Soccer coach in the fall of 2017. Coach Martinez has been a part of the Sterling soccer programs for the past seven years, working as an assistant for both the women's and men's soccer teams. As a former Warrior and standout keeper himself, Martinez has been the goalkeeper coach for both the women's and men's programs during his time at Sterling. Coach Martinez also played professional soccer for the Wichita Wings and the Wichita B-52s in Wichita, Kan.
Head men’s tennis coach Lonnie Isaac begins his 1st season at Sterling and 16th overall at the collegiate level. Prior to coming to Sterling, Isaac was the head coach at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas for the men’s and women’s tennis programs. At Bethel Isaac coached the women’s team to compete in eight straight KCAC Championships, winning six in a row from 2008-2013 and qualified for the NAIA National Tennis Championships five times. The women’s team won 37 straight KCAC dual matches between 2008-2014 and the men’s team also played in the KCAC Championship
Caden Ford begins his first year as the Sports Information Director at Sterling College. He oversees the marketing and public relations of the Warrior Athletic Department and is responsible for managing the Warrior athletic website (scwarriors.com), handling social media, production of organizational media, overseeing the Sterling College Sports Network, and game day statistics. Caden graduated from Sterling College in 2016 with a BS in Sports Management. During his time at Sterling College, he was a member of the football team and was a part of the 2013 KCAC Conference Championship.
K.C. Bassett is currently the head women's basketball coach. She was head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach for seven seasons prior to being named the head women's basketball coach for the 2014-15 season.
Before joining the coaching staff, she was a four-year starter and twice captain on Sterling College teams that finished with a combined record of 99-28 [78%], and won two conference championships and one KCAC tournament championship. Her teams made three trips to the NAIA National Tournament, where they finished in the Sweet Sixteen twice and Elite Eight once.
Chase Hansen began as Sterling College's co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He now serves as the program's head coach.
Prior to coming to Sterling, Hansen served as offensive coordinator at Bethel College for the 2010 and 2011 season, and was a graduate assistant at Bethel in 2008 and 2009. During his time at Bethel he coached ten players to All-KCAC recognition.
