Dr. Christina J. George

Christie is a pianist and musicologist from the Pacific Northwest. Her research centers around music’s place within the academy and changing conceptions of good taste insofar as taste relates to the nature of the self and one’s apprehension and perception of beauty. She has written and presented on topics including taste and the philosophy of art, German Idealism, the role of the self in contemporary worship music, and the phenomenology of Jean-Luc Marion at conferences in the U.S. and Europe. Here at Sterling, she teaches courses in Applied Piano, Aural Skills, and Music History.

Larry Brownlee

Returning to his Alma Mater, Larry Brownlee ’80 joined Sterling College as a full-time faculty member with over 35 years of experience as an instrumental music teacher. Previously a full-time faculty member at Sterling High School, Larry has taught instrumental music in three school systems at elementary through high school levels, coached athletics, served as sponsor for numerous extracurricular clubs, and served as an adjudicator for multiple music festivals and competitions. He earned his M.M.Ed. from Wichita State University, his B.A.

Marisa Callan

Callan graduated from Sterling College in 2005 with her bachelor’s in music education and completed her M.M. in Conducting from California Baptist University in 2010. She is an experienced pianist, vocalist and professor, having taught several courses as an adjunct and full-time professor at California Baptist. Callan is joining Sterling College from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she has been serving as a minister of music for Bethany Baptist Church.
