Sterling College announces 2008 Homecoming Candidates

Sterling College has announced its eight Homecoming King and Queen Candidates for the SC Homecoming weekend on October 16 – October 18, 2008.
Candidates are selected by fellow classmates and employees of the College. Candidates must have a least a 2.5 gpa, be in good standing with College and must be a senior or a junior who plans to graduate in the spring.
This year’s King Candidates include:
David Fuller is a senior from Miltonvale, Kan. While at Sterling, David has participated in choir, highland singers, Student Government, theatre, missions, and intramurals. He also served as a resident assistant. David is a double major in Religion and Philosophy and Christian Ministries with a missions emphasis. David is the son of Ken Jay and Janet Fuller.
Joel Orr of Wray, Colo., is on the baseball team at Sterling and has served as a resident assistant. Joel has also participated in SC mission trips to Kenya and Belize. Joel is a Christian Ministries major with a missions emphasis. Joel is the son of Brent and Lyndee Orr.
Nate Prior is a senior from Norco, Calif. While at Sterling, Nate has participated in SC theatre, missions, praise bands, choir, highland singers, intramurals and the student chaplain program. Nate is a Religion and Philosophy major. Nate is the son of Bob and Laura Prior.
Ben Swihart is a senior History major from St. Francis, Kan. Ben has served as a student coach for the football team, has been a member of praise band, intramurals, student senate, student chaplain program and co-lead a mission trip to Nicaragua. Ben is the son of Bruce and Shirley Swihart.
This year’s Queen Candidates include:
Whitney (Roach) Fuller is a senior from Sterling, Kan. While at Sterling, Whitney has participated in choir, highland singers, theatre, missions, campus activities board and has served as a resident assistant. Whitney is a Christian Ministries major with a missions emphasis and is the daughter of Angel Frazier
Shannon Kirby is a senior from Arvada, Colo. While at Sterling, Shannon has been a member of the SC Lady Volleyball team, participated in SC missions, and has served as a resident assistant for two years. Shannon is a Business Major and is the daughter of Connie Kirby and Stephen and Tanya Kirby.
Amberli Todd-Walker is a senior from Sterling, Kan. She has served as a dorm senator, student chaplain, participates in RAYA 3.27, the schools missions organization and is an ambassador for the admissions department. Amberli is a Business major and is the daughter of Tony and Deborah Walker.
Melissa Yarrow is a senior Christian Ministries major from Clay Center, Kan. Melissa has served on student government and is currently the student body President, has been a prayer leader for her dorm and has participated in SC missions by co-leading a mission trip to Nicaragua. Melissa is the daughter of Lee and Karen Yarrow.
The Homecoming Ceremonies will take place on Saturday, October 18 during the football game against Southwestern College of Winfield, Kansas. Kick-off for the game will be at 1:30 pm.
