Sterling College announced Carrie McGlynn is stepping into the role of assistant director of admissions. McGlynn has been with Sterling College in the Admissions Office for 12 years, this year moving from senior admissions counselor to assistant director of admissions. She will continue to work with prospective students for specific majors but will also assist in developing and implementing new communications efforts, social media strategies and helping with the student ambassador program.

 Sterling College welcomed its new faculty to campus Aug. 8 for orientation and training. Two alumni are among the list of new professors, returning to their Alma Mater to teach at Sterling. Classes begin at the College on Aug. 22.

Dr. Amanda Burkhart

Amanda Burkhart joined Sterling College in the fall of 2018, where she brings a wealth of experience and passion for athletic training. Hailing from Larned, Kansas, Amanda embarked on her journey in higher education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Fort Hays State University. She continued her academic pursuits at Fort Hays, earning a Master of Science Degree in Health and Human Performance. In 2024, Amanda completed her PhD in Health Science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.

Larry Brownlee

Returning to his Alma Mater, Larry Brownlee ’80 joined Sterling College as a full-time faculty member with over 35 years of experience as an instrumental music teacher. Previously a full-time faculty member at Sterling High School, Larry has taught instrumental music in three school systems at elementary through high school levels, coached athletics, served as sponsor for numerous extracurricular clubs, and served as an adjudicator for multiple music festivals and competitions. He earned his M.M.Ed. from Wichita State University, his B.A.

Sterling College has announced Varsity Spirit President Bill Seely will share his professional journey and insights with Sterling College students as part of the Oscar Schmidt Lecture Series on Sept. 14, 2018, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall. The public is invited to attend this free event.
