Jim Johnson
Jim Johnson ’80 has once again returned to his Alma Mater, this time as Director of Development. After serving seven years in law enforcement on the Wichita Police Department, Jim first came back to Sterling College and worked for the Admissions Office from 1988 -1992. He was able to acquire his teaching credentials while working in Admissions. He taught Fourth Grade at Sterling Grade School before moving around the state with various school administration jobs.
Jim and wife Sue (Parish) ’81, have moved back to Sterling after Jim’s retirement as Superintendent of Schools for Circle USD 375. Their youngest son Bradley ’19 also is a graduate of the college. The Johnson’s have a long history with Sterling College which will be an asset for Jim in his new role.
Jim has a breadth of experience in law enforcement, finance, and education. He holds a B.S. from Sterling College with majors in Business and Elementary Education, a Masters in School Leadership from Friends University, and District Level Certification from Wichita State University.
