Worship Arts at Sterling College

At Sterling College, we believe in equipping students to become strong worship leaders for the church – whether they are actively pursuing full-time ministry or simply desire to use their musical or technical gifts in their local church. Our students understand that part of what makes a great worship service is great music that is executed well by a confident group of musicians, technicians, and leaders.

At Sterling College, students from any academic department are encouraged to audition and pursue their interest in helping lead worship through music at Sterling College. The roles available to students in the Worship Arts program include vocalist, guitarist (acoustic and electric), bassist, pianist/keyboardist, percussionist, and technician (audio/visual). Other instrumentalists are also encouraged to audition if they have an interest in worship music – especially string players.

Worship Arts Scholarships

Scholarships are available for students who are interested in being involved on one of our student-led worship teams at Sterling College. These activity scholarships are applied toward the student’s tuition, and come with an expectation that the student apply, audition, and participate in worship arts activities throughout their career at Sterling College.

Worship Arts Member Schedule

The “season” for our worship arts students is the entire school year. Students who receive scholarship for worship arts are expected to participate in all regular rehearsal and performance times. Our student-led bands meet to rehearse twice a week and typically lead worship at one or two chapel services each week on campus. In addition to our on-campus worship services, our student-led worship teams lead worship off-campus at churches and schools several times each semester. Schedules are distributed at the beginning of each semester, as bookings are confirmed.
