Sterling College Online Learning has announced it is offering a bachelor’s degree in business administration starting this fall. Sterling’s undergraduate online tuition rate is $145 per credit hour for the 2020-21 academic year. The online rate makes Sterling one of the lowest online tuition prices in the state of Kansas and across the nation. The new program begins with the Fall I semester, which starts on Wednesday, August 26.

Sterling College has announced it plans for on-campus classes to resume this fall, beginning on August 26, 2020. New Student Orientation and move-in weekends are planned to take place as originally scheduled with move-in for fall student-athletes taking place on August 7, move-in for all remaining new students taking place on August 22 and New Student Orientation officially kicking off on August 22, also.

With disruption to regular activities, Sterling College faculty and staff have supported current and prospective students online using a variety of new tools, resources and methods. In response to the COVID-19 spread around the country, the College extended Spring Break by one week and began online instruction on March 30, with faculty and staff engaging students in an online format using Canvas and other virtual tools.

Sterling College student journalists recently won several awards in the 2020 Kansas Collegiate Media Publications Award Contest. Junior Darren Porche, of Houston, sophomore Taya Wilson, of Sterling, and freshman Max Dutton, of Sterling, all came away as individual winners.
Also, the Sterling College Observer newspaper, which is in its first year as the campus newspaper, received a Silver designation in the overall category, in which publications can earn one or none of three overall honors within their classification.

Continuing its commitment to Kansas families, Sterling College has announced two new scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year. The Sunflower Scholarship and the Heart of Kansas Scholarship offers institutional aid to prospective students who meet the criteria to be awarded, starting with the fall 2020 semester. The spring Freeman Lecture Series, originally scheduled for April 3, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and in accordance with CDC recommendations to limit gatherings of people.
The health and safety of our guests and community was our utmost consideration in this decision. We are hoping to reschedule a time to have Nikki Lerner visit our campus in the future,” said Paul Brandes ’11, chaplain.

A rare chance to see a production of a legendary playwright’s arguably greatest work will be in store for central Kansas audiences attending Sterling College Theatre’s production of August Wilson’s “Fences.” The often-studied, rarely-seen classic will be presented on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, in Culbertson Auditorium on the Sterling College campus.
