Kirchoff, Nuest recognized for years of service to Sterling College

Sterling residents Vicky Kirchoff and Arlen Nuest received special recognition at the annual Sterling College Kickoff Banquet on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, for serving the College 25 and 30 years, respectively. Kirchoff serves as the physical plant office manager; Nuest is the electrician.

Starting at Sterling College in 1992 in housekeeping, Kirchoff moved to supervisor of housekeeping and then to office manager in 2010.

Keynote Convocation to feature President Scott Rich

The first convocation of the Sterling College academic year will take place Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall.

The first convocation of the Sterling College academic year will take place Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall. Keynote speaker Dr. Scott Rich, Sterling College president, will deliver his speech “Remember These Things” as students and employees gather to celebrate the start of classes. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Dana Ely

Dana Ely, RN has joined Sterling College as Campus Health Director. Dana received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Emporia State University and holds a multistate RN licensure. She has worked many years as a Family Practice Nurse as well as positions in Urgent Care and telephone triage nursing. She resides in Hutchinson with her husband, and they have two grown sons. They enjoy boating, jet skiing and camping.

Sterling College welcomed its new faculty to campus Aug. 10 for orientation and training. Three alumni are among the list of new professors, returning to their Alma Mater to teach the subject they once studied at Sterling. Classes begin at the College on Aug. 23.

Dr. Randi Wise

Dr. Wise came back to Sterling from Kansas State University, where she completed her Ph.D. and worked as a graduate teaching and research assistant. The specific focus of her doctoral work was on the biochemical regulation of breast cancer metastasis.

She is passionate about teaching chemistry and her goal is to make chemistry more understandable and relatable to students in new and exciting ways. Laboratory experiments and visual demonstrations lend support to concepts learned in the classroom.
