Pete Manely, exercise science department chair and certified athletic trainer (ATC) at Sterling College, has been named the President Elect of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Athletic Training Association. Manely is also the President of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Athletic Training Association.
Sterling College has announced several new additions to its faculty.
Dr. Raymond Anderson will be joining the college as an associate professor of communications. Dr. Anderson has taught courses in video production and direction, broadcast news, scriptwriting and more. He played a significant role in growing the major at George Fox University during his years at the school.
The new school year is upon us. In addition to new students, new faculty, and new staff, Sterling College is starting this year with a new concentration: Accounting. With the addition of business professor, Irene Barkman, Sterling College is now able to offer Accounting as new area of study for business majors.
Salina, Kan. – The 2011 KCAC Football Season started with a bang on Wednesday with the 2011 KCAC Media Day in Salina, Kansas. At Media Day, two different preseason polls, the KCAC Coaches’ Poll and the KCAC Media Poll, are voted on. Sterling College was picked to finish fifth by the KCAC Coaches and fourth by the KCAC Media.
Sterling College announces today that it will close the Sterling College Quiznos franchise on August 5, 2011. After careful consideration, the College has deemed it best to close the franchise after determining that it is no longer a viable business venture of benefit to both the students and the College.

Adrian Dinkel has been named head baseball coach for Sterling College. Prior to arriving at Sterling, Dinkel spent two seasons as the head assistant and recruiting coordinator at Clarendon College in Texas. He and his wife, Gidget will soon be residing in Sterling.
Sterling College women's soccer assistant coach and alumnus Ki Thornberry has been named the new head women’s soccer coach for the Garden City Community College Broncbusters. Thornberry comes to GCCC after serving as the assistant women’s soccer coach and assistant softball coach at Sterling College in Sterling, KS.
Sterling, Kan. – Sterling College Athletic Director Gary Kempf announced today that Interim Head Baseball Coach Adrian Dinkel has had the Interim title removed and will be Sterling’s new Head Baseball Coach, replacing Jared Hamilton who resigned on June 17.
Hutchinson, Kan. - The 2011 Warrior Wood and Wedge Golf Tournament took place on Monday, June 27th, at the Highlands Golf and Supper Club in Hutchinson, KS. 84 golfers participated in the all-day event. It was the 14th annual tournament held for by the Warrior Athletic Association as a key fundraising event for Sterling College Athletics and combined with the silent auction generated over $9,000 for the athletic program.
New Orleans, La. – Ryan J. “Pete” Manely was named the 2011 NAIA Athletic Trainers’ Association Athletic Trainer of the Year. Manely oversees the Sterling College Athletic Training Department and is the co-chair of the Exercise Science Department. The NAIA-ATA honored Manely at during their 2011 National Athletic Trainers’ Association Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposia in New Orleans, Louisiana.
