With caution and care, Sterling College endeavors to safely provide an excellent education to our students and to provide safety and sanitation measures that meet or exceed guidelines given by these health officials. It takes all of us. We will care for each other, care for our community and for our campus spaces. We are Warriors.
The 2020-2021 Academic Calendar (available to download here) provides an updated list of important academic dates throughout Interterm 2021. Interterm classes begin on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 and conclude on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Other important academic dates within Interterm 2021 (drop/add, withdraw date, etc.) can be found within the Academic Calendar.
Spring 2021 Schedule
Classes begin on Monday, January 25, 2021 and conclude with the last day of finals on Thursday, May 13, 2021. However, there are several changes to the semester which are highlighted on the calendar, which include (but are not limited to): a revised Spring Break (now called “Spring Breather”, which is ONE day on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 with classes resuming on March 18); Easter Break (Campus Closed for Good Friday on April 2, 2021 with classes resuming on Monday, April 5); and Final Exams (now scheduled for May 10-13) which are a week earlier than previously scheduled. All course syllabi for Spring 2021 will reflect these and other modifications to the academic calendar, and students are expected to review the Spring 2021 academic calendar as well. Other important academic dates within the Spring 2021 semester (drop/add, withdraw date, etc.) can be found within the Academic Calendar.
Course Delivery for Interterm/Spring 2021
Sterling College seeks to achieve as much face-to-face (F2F) instruction within campus-based courses as possible this Interterm and Spring 2021 semester. At the same time, we recognize that health concerns and the potential need for quarantine require an additional level of flexibility. Thus, and due to COVID-19 guidelines and requirements, classroom delivery will be flexible as compared to previous semesters prior to the pandemic.
Every effort will be made to hold classes in a F2F format, until either planned modifications begin or we are required to make immediate changes as outlined by state and local authorities. The Interterm and Spring 2021 schedule for course delivery will therefore be hybrid (offered primarily F2F, but potentially mixed with virtual delivery components). Regardless of the mode of delivery, faculty will maintain their courses with the same high level of quality while meeting the same course objectives as outlined within the syllabus. Students should also expect adaptable models of instruction by their faculty, as warranted by the course requirements and objectives. These can include a mixture of F2F and digital/virtual instruction, while preparing to move fully online if outside factors deem that necessary.
At this time, classes will be held on-campus in a F2F format through May 13, 2021. The traditional Final Exam Schedule (available online here) will be followed, unless modifications are warranted.
