Sterling College has announced the Sterling College Online Music Festival, which will allow middle school and high school students to display their musical abilities amongst their peers. The Festival will run from April 6 to April 25 and is open to all Kansas junior high and senior high school students.

Continuing its commitment to Kansas families, Sterling College has announced two new scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year. The Sunflower Scholarship and the Heart of Kansas Scholarship offers institutional aid to prospective students who meet the criteria to be awarded, starting with the fall 2020 semester. Students interested in pursuing this scholarship may learn more at www.sterling.edu/admissions. The application is available online and the priority deadline for these scholarships is May 1, 2020.
The spring Freeman Lecture Series has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

The spring Freeman Lecture Series, originally scheduled for April 3, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and in accordance with CDC recommendations to limit gatherings of people.
The health and safety of our guests and community was our utmost consideration in this decision. We are hoping to reschedule a time to have Nikki Lerner visit our campus in the future,” said Paul Brandes ’11, chaplain.

A rare chance to see a production of a legendary playwright’s arguably greatest work will be in store for central Kansas audiences attending Sterling College Theatre’s production of August Wilson’s “Fences.” The often-studied, rarely-seen classic will be presented on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, in Culbertson Auditorium on the Sterling College campus.

Sterling College faculty and students were in Topeka at the Kansas State Capitol for the Kansas Athletic Trainers Society’s “Hit the Hill” event on Feb. 11. Sterling College has announced Adam Moore of Nickerson, Kan., has been named the State Champion in Persuasive Speaking and, by virtue of that performance, is one of two students from the state of Kansas that is afforded the opportunity to compete at the annual Interstate Oratory competition.
“I was thrilled with Adam's performance at the tournament. Adam is one of the hardest workers on the team this season, and despite being new to the field of persuasive speaking, I was elated that he could qualify,” said Ken Troyer, forensics coach.

Sterling College has announced grants from the South Central Community Foundation and the Max and Charlene Moxley Charitable Trust to support renovations of the McCreight Track at Smisor Stadium. Together, the grants provide nearly all of the needed funds to restripe the track.
